The Embassy is a non-profit making artist-run gallery. The gallery
holds a yearly programme of exhibitions and events, hosts video and
performance nights at Edinburgh College of Art, and exhibits at off
site projects including Zoo Art Fair.
The gallery co-ordinates and presents Art in Practice; professional
practice events for students at Edinburgh College of Art in return
for some funding towards the gallery's core costs. The Embassy has
also received funding from the Scottish Arts Council, ECA Trustees
and the Young Scot Award.
The Embassy was founded in May 2004 by Kim Coleman, Craig Coulthard,
Tommy Grace, Jenny Hogarth, Dave Maclean, Kate Owens and Catherine
Stafford who had variously intitiated the other exhibiting projects
Win Together Lose Together Play Together Stay Together, Magnifitat
and Edinburgh College of Art Video and Performance nights. Outgoing
Directors of the second committee include John Farrugia, Deborah
Jackson, Katie Orton, Debjani Banerjee, Dan Brown, Tessa Lynch, John
A. Harrington and Shona Handley. Many thanks also to Oliver Herbert
and Jenny Richards for their contributions over the summer of 2008.
