PRESS RELEASE:
Bishops Move
28th May - 20th June 2004
Private View 28th May 7-9pm with performance by LisaLouise at 8.30pm
Monday 9am Manchester:
The crockery is boxed up and set to go, marked with several oversized luminous labels. A stuffed mongoose that’s seen a few moves in its time pops his flee-bitten head out of the bubble wrap. Twitching light momentarily illuminates the eye of a regal bird propped between a plinth and the cold wall of the van. These all-important documents of the absurd are stacked and ready for transport. Just before the door is slammed a pristine perspex box is carried out and the content, assorted forms of lint, is placed meticulously in corners of the vehicle. A man with a bulging pocket gets in the passenger seat and it’s time to hit the road; there is word that a pair of brightly dressed females will signal their arrival from a nearby hillside.
Friday 7pm Edinburgh
‘better across the board’ - the van pulls out of East Crosscauseway, and with its contents installed The Embassy opens. ‘Bishops Move’ is the first leg of an exchange show with Manchester- based The All Year Round Club and features work by eight artists:

For the duration of the private view The Embassy also presents the touring Galerie dans ma Poche with its current show by Oliver East.
